Presenting
Videos

Informal Showreel Below...

(Created before my Television Journalism MA from City University, London).

Mainly composed of clips from impromptu, unscripted videos I made whilst travelling
(some of the full videos are below).

I also edited this showreel and many of the full videos below:

Hair colour: currently 'bronde' -brown and blonde (mainly blonde).

Sun Studios, Memphis, USA

NB. I had a wonky tooth and lisp/sibilance  in many of the clips in this video as I had lingual/inside braces at the time which had pushed my front tooth out of place! This lisp is now sorted and my teeth are now straight and better than they are here (and also better than in the informal showreel above & videos below)!

More Formal Clips from TV Journalism MA on the left:

Clips: News anchor, studio presenter, news package reporter, question time studio guest. We made two half hour local news programs every Tuesday hence worked in a pressurised environment -studio work combined with on-location news packages. We took on all roles e.g. filming, sound, presenting, auto-cue operator, etc. The presenting involved auto-cue and we had no time to rehearse content or auto-cue in advance.

Here are some clips from days when I presented. We wrote all content, found interviewees, etc, that day. The tone of my presenting here is generally more formal compared to the more informal travel videos below and showreel above.

I also presented a 30 minute documentary for this MA (and wrote the script for it -as well as helping to research it) however the clips from the documentary are not included here.

Notes re Videos Above:

  • Most filmed before I did the Television Journalism MA.

  • Many created in an impromptu fashion, (unscripted, unplanned, rushed) whilst I was on a group holiday in the US. (We would, for example, go to a museum/zoo/attraction and, after I'd looked round and taken photographs, I would find something interesting to discuss then quickly self-film it before the group moved on to the next place. I couldn’t keep the group waiting. The Sun Studios, Memphis zoo/Panda video, Martin Luther King and Beale Street videos were all self-filmed on the same day & I edited the videos when I got back to the UK).

  • Since it was a holiday (and not a professional trip for which I could transport better equipment, e.g. microphones, etc), there are some videos, (for example the Beale Street one), where the general background noise interferes. I do have professional equipment however I just used a non-professional camera and mic that fitted into my handbag for many of these videos -and self-filmed using a tripod. The videos are intended to showcase my presenting (& editing), rather than filming, skills.

  • Please don’t judge the quality of what I would produce on a professional reporting trip from these videos. For a professional trip however I would also write a script, shooting script, possibly learn lines, film in 4K, use a proper lavalier or hand-held microphone, etc, so the quality of everything would be better)! My professional filming equipment yields much better results -I am now using the impressive Panasonic GH4 which films in state-of-the-art 4K Ultra High Definition. (4K didn't exist when I filmed many of the videos above)!

  • Alternatively I can work with a cameraman or team and so focus on just presenting (and possibly other reporting aspects like script-writing). In this case self-filming and filming-quality is not relevant. I know various cameramen who are keen to work on projects if you don't have your own team. Working with a cameraman obviously allows for more varied footage than self-filming does.
